Abstract
Fun Piano Software To Help Children
and Adult Beginners Learn To
Read Piano Notes
Hi, I'm Dr. Anthony Fernando and I'd like to welcome you to
PianoIsFun
If you've been searching for a fun way to teach your children how to
read music then perhaps I can help.
A few years ago I was in exactly the same position as you. I was
searching for a piano software program to help my nephew Michael learn
his piano notes.
As a professional software developer and a musician with over twenty
years of experience I knew what I was looking for.
Searching for piano software
I started out searching Google for 'piano software' but the only
programs I found were very monotonous drills and I knew my nephew would
find these games dull and boring.
What I was really wanted was a program that would:
* Introduce the notes gradually
* Teach both the note names and where to find the notes on the piano
keyboard
* Clearly explain the difference between the Treble and Bass clef
notes
* Allow me to select which notes to practice
* Use bright and colorful animation
* Be so much fun that my nephew would keep coming back for more
After a lot of research, I realized that the piano software I was
looking for just didn't exist, so I decided to create it myself. Five
months later... Piano Is Fun was born!
"I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that my children
absolutely love 'Piano Is Fun'
They started this morning and have been taking turns on it all day.
They are so thrilled by the rewards that they don't even notice they
are learning. Thanks for designing such great software, I wish I'd had
it when I was learning piano."
S. Wyard (Parent)
The Easiest Way To Learn The Piano Notes
And Keyboard Positions
Piano Is Fun makes learning the piano notes easy and enjoyable. The
features of the software include:
20 Step-by-Step Lessons
The 20 step-by-step lessons introduce students to the notes and
keyboard positions of the piano gradually so that they never feel
intimidated or overwhelmed.
Interactive Exercises
Students discover the names of the notes through interactive exercises
and games that ensure that they develop true note recognition
skills instead of memorizing silly rhymes.
Practice Games That Teach
The worst thing about most tutorial programs is that they don't
actually teach students anything. Instead, they just test what students
already know using repetitive drills.
Each lesson of Piano Is Fun includes a Practice Game which allows
students to learn at their own pace without getting frustrated.
Helps Beginners Develop A "Musical Ear"
Each time a student correctly identifies a note name or locates the
correct key on the piano, they hear the actual sound of the note
through the computer. This helps them to develop their sense of pitch.
Collectible Rewards To Provide Motivation
When they complete a lesson, students receive a special reward on their
personal progress page. These rewards allow you to monitor their
progress and also act as form of motivation. (It's incredible to see
how motivated students become when it comes to collecting their
rewards!)
Bronze, Silver And Gold Medallion Challenges
The Bronze, Silver and Gold Medallion Challenges bring everything
together on the Grand Staff. The challenges include the note names and
keyboard positions of the Bass and Treble clefs. This helps students
transition to reading music in the real world.
Printable Certificates
When a student completes a medallion challenge, they are rewarded with
a trumpet fanfare and are presented with a Certificate of Achievement.
These certificates are a valuable form of positive reinforcement (And
look great in a frame next to their piano)
Custom Lessons
If a student is having problems with particular notes, Piano Is Fun
allows you to create a customized lesson to address their specific
problem. Just go to the 'Custom Lesson' screen and select any number of
notes from the treble and bass clefs and Piano Is Fun will then create
a custom lesson to help.
Keep Track Of Up To 50 Students
Piano Is Fun tracks the progress of up to 50 individual students. You
can check a student's progress page at any time to find out how they
are going. If you're a teacher this allows you to quickly determine
which students are struggling so that you can help when needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to the questions I am most frequently asked:
Can I use Piano Is Fun with a MIDI keyboard?
No - Piano is fun does not use a MIDI keyboard. The program is
completely self contained and uses an onscreen keyboard as shown in the
video. All you need is your computer.
After going through all 20 lessons and learning to read music, most
students find it very easy to transfer their new knowledge to a real
piano or keyboard.
Is Piano Is Fun suitable for Adult Beginners?
I designed Piano Is Fun for my nephew so it was designed for children.
However, what has surprised me is that many adult beginners have used
the program to improve their sight reading. If you're young at heart
and are open to playing a fun game that will help you learn to read
music then Piano Is Fun can definitely help.
Is Piano Is Fun Mac Compatible?
Unfortunately no. Piano Is Fun can currently only be used on computers
running Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7. I am hoping to create a
Mac version in the future.
Piano Is Fun Is Now Used in 48 States Of The USA
And 37 Countries Around The World
I released the first version of Piano Is Fun on the Internet on the
10th March 2001. Today, musicians in 48 States of the USA and 37
countries around the world are using Piano Is Fun to learn their piano
notes quickly and easily.
Here are just a few of the hundreds of emails I have received from
parents, teachers, and adult beginners who are using Piano Is Fun.
"My daughter has been using the software this afternoon and loves it. I
am going to tell her piano teacher about the software on Tuesday.
Perhaps she can mention it to students of hers that are struggling with
note recognition. Good luck and thanks again."
D. Knight (Parent)
"Just wanted to let you know that after a year of searching for music
software I could use with my piano students, I have finally found
software that is fun, challenging, and rewarding - YOURS! Thank you so
much!!"
R. Holden (Piano Teacher)
"I have really enjoyed having this program to help me learn the notes.
I'm not a gifted player & must work hard to retain what I learn .
I'm 60 years old but have always loved piano & now that I am retired
can "TRY" to learn. Piano is Fun has helped so much. Thanks Very Much"
C. Drummer (Adult Beginner)
So How Much Does Piano Is Fun Cost?

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
